The Australian Grand Prix Triathlon (AGPT) Series is run by Canberra Multisport Events which is a relatively new Canberra based Multisport Events business that supports triathlon and other multisport events in Canberra and its regions.

The AGPT Series will add another level of racing nationally for pathway athletes. It brings multiple and exciting race formats to the fold that are critical to the ongoing development of all pathway athletes. The events are designed to add value to athletes existing skills providing them with opportunity to perform outside their comfort zone and their home racing environments.

AGPT racing is fast, furious, technical, strategic and fun. The AGPT series will provide opportunity to all Australia’s pathway athletes whether they are part of a state/territory STTAs program or not. It will help coaches develop athletes further by improving Australia’s athletes to the highest level and beyond.

Grand Prix Triathlon racing will see the inaugural race commence in Canberra with the Eliminator format.  The second teaser event for the 2021/22 season will be in January with a 3 day Super Sprint Weekend.

Race Director

Corey Bacon is one of Australia’s leading performance coaches who is taking a break from professional coaching to focus on providing the triathlon community more triathlon events for all. This is another way Corey can give back to the sport he so passionately loves. Corey spent 13 years developing athletes to the highest level, and is committed to delivering on some awesome events and providing opportunities for Australia’s Pathway athletes and their programs across the country.

Corey spent 4 years (2012-16) working within the Triathlon Australia High Performance Program as the Head Coach of the Australian Paralympic Team and contributed to building a world class paratriathlon program while bringing home Australia’s only Gold Medal performance. He has a passion for developing juniors and guiding them to Australian representation domestically and internationally which he has done on multiple occassions.

‘Our Future Is Here’ is the theme for the rebirth of Grand Prix Triathlon racing in Australia and to provide positive, purposely designed events that will add value to the hard work our pathway coaches do day in, day out. Get on board and lets work together to build our future Olympians.
